Welcome to my Web site. Here you'll find a bit of information about me, some excerpts of my writing, audio clips of the stories, and more fun stuff. This site is a work in progress and probably always will be, so check back frequently for updates. Stay as long as you like -- but try not to scratch the furniture.

11/11/2009 -- At long last, Dirty Little Coward is in print. Click on the cover to the right to go to the Dappled Things Web site for a short preview, or you can click here for a slightly longer excerpt elsewhere on my site.
You can also order a copy of the print issue at the Dappled Things site. Or, once the next quarterly issue is published around January or February, you will be able to read the story there in its entirety for free.
Dirty Little Coward is my first published non-horror story. If you check out the excerpts or decide to splurge for a print copy, I'm interested to know what you think.
9/11/2009 -- I remember September 11, 2001, in The Blog.
8/14/2009 -- You can now view Coming Back, Coming Up as a single file. Click on the cover to the right to download the full novel as a PDF. And remember, if you like what you've read, I'm not asking for any money, but I do ask you to consider signing this electronic petition to help me try to convince prospective publishers there is a market for this book.
If you've already read the book, click on it anyway to see the epigram I added before the prologue. It's from an essay by John L. Parker, author of Once A Runner, the most widely read running novel, and I could not have written something more fitting for my book if I noodled ideas around for a year.
Thanks, and happy reading!
8/9/2009 -- The feedback continues to be overwhelming! It's a beautiful thing to see something in which I've invested so much time and effort be enjoyed by a wider audience.
Before you click through to the third and final part of Coming Back, Coming Up -- or after you've read the conclusion -- please consider signing this electronic petition, which I hope to present to prospective publishers (I have a few in mind) to convince them there's a market for this book. Thank you all for your support!
8/7/2009 -- The responses to the first part of Coming Back, Coming Up have been tremendous. Thanks to everyone who's given it a read, and even more thanks to those who have taken the time to send feedback. Without further ado, here's the second part.8/6/2009 -- It's been a long time between postings, to be sure, but I'm back with the first part of my running novel, Coming Back, Coming Up, which I now present here for the first time for free. Click the cover to download a PDF.
3/3/2009 -- With "Dirty Little Coward," my first non-horror story, accepted for publication, I'm wondering whether it makes sense to use a pseudonym for non-horror pieces. Hear me out on The Blog, then come back here and cast a vote.
2/19/2009 -- "Dirty Little Coward" will be published in Dappled Things -- and this one's as far from horror as you can get. Details are in The Blog.
2/13/2009 -- "The Sisters" is now officially available online from Fantastic Horror -- fittingly, just in time for the first Friday the 13th of 2009.
1/22/2009 -- Just found out that my story "The Sisters" has been accepted by an online magazine. Check The Blog for more.
1/21/2009 -- For anyone interested in a brief glimpse at where I get ideas for stories and how I go about writing each one, there's a new page on the site called Behind The Stories. I have a lot of updating to do on it, so check back often.
1/3/2009 -- Happy New Year! Now will you please tell me who you are?
12/25/2008 -- Merry Christmas to one and all! Click here for the 2008 Maticses' Christmas Message.
12/19/2008 -- In The Blog, I've posted my take on a New York Times columnist's rant about Joe the Plumber turning Joe the Author. Plus, The Blog itself has been updated with better functionality. Check it out!
12/8/2008 -- I joined Facebook a couple of weeks ago. There's a new post on my experience in The Blog.
11/25/2008 -- Check out a new horror story excerpt, "Double Vision," in The Writing.
